12 Days of MySuperFoods – Holiday Crafts

on December 12, 2011

We’re always looking for great things to share with you, and since this is the BEST time of the year, we’ve decided to spend the next 12 days sharing all things Christmas!  We’ll be sharing great recipes for cookies, appetizers, desserts and more, as well fun crafts and our favorite gift ideas.  We’ll kick off the 12 days with a few craft ideas for kids of all ages.

Although my kids aren’t even two yet, I try to find easy and simple craft ideas to do with them.  The have a great time sitting at the table and following me step by step, and they love to show the finished product to anyone and everyone.  Here are couple of crafts that I am planning to do with my kids for the holidays:

1.  The Hand Wreath — Easy to do and can be adapted for kids of any age using crayons for younger kids and paint/glitter for older kids, and they can hang it on their door.  Details for this and other ideas can be found here.

2. The Recycled Christmas Tree — This is a great idea for recycling old birthday hats or paper cups and turning them into adorable trees that the kids can use to decorate their favorite spaces.  For younger kids, you can use Christmas stickers instead of the sparkly gems and glitter.  Details can be found here.

3. The Snowman Light – An innovative idea for reusing plastic bottles and a cool decoration for the holidays.  This is likely more fun for older kids, but what the heck, we’re going to try it anyway.  Look for this and more at the Disney Family  Fun Magazine.

We also found some great craft ideas on the Martha Stewart site, so if you’re looking for more ideas, don’t miss it.   And for those of you who are beginners, I also found a few almost ready made christmas crafts in the stationary section at Target that were easy to put together at home, like a stand up foam christmas tree that my kids adorned with glittery ornament stickers and star.

Have fun crafting, and stay tuned for our second day of the 12 days of Christmas tomorrow!
