Last night we returned from our first ever trip to the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade’s (NASFT) Fancy Food Show in Washington, DC. We were just spectators this time around, taking in the best booth designs and sales pitches of other great food companies while getting a sense of what to expect when we have our own booth this September at the Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore, MD. Our big debut of MySuperSnacks – our launch product.
All in all, I’d say it was a success. The people that we met who may have “technically” seen us as future competition were gracious, helpful, and overall supportive of what we were about to do. Many even promised to find us in Baltimore in a couple months.
Considering the amount of tea, olive oil, and confectionary at the Fancy Food Show, we also realized that it’s probably not the best fit for our company. A great realization now, since these shows are not inexpensive. Maybe we’ll attend in a few years when things are really humming.
Aside from the looooong drive home yesterday and a few rain showers walking into the convention center on day 2, it’s hard to find reason to complain. Perhaps those samples of amazing dark chocolate, sea salt, and caramel helped!
